Show and Sale Before and After

I know I know, I’ve been such a bad blogger lately.  I’ll use the pottery show and sale as my excuse for not posting lately.  We had a very successful show and now that it’s over, maybe I can focus on some craft projects I’ve been putting off.

And yes, I have some soap dishes set aside to sell online.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to see what goes on during the show and sale preparation.  Most of the potters get a shelf like this to display their wares.  This is what mine looked like before.

And here’s what it looks like after 3  hours.  I didn’t have a lot of pieces so my shelf was pretty simple.  Check out the festive greens on top of my shelf.  I got them from a neighbor’s trash!!

Fried turkey from a Chinese restaurant?

Thanksgiving dinner by you.

Did you know you can get a fried turkey from some Chinese restaurants?  Yup, that’s what we had for Thanksgiving.  The dark thing right above the turkey slight to the left is actually a lily pad wrapped duck filled with a sticky rice stuffing.  Now that was yummy!

And what’s Thanksgiving without a little Thanksgiving traffic?  This is a shot of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

I have the sock knitting bug

9-5 socks by you.

Here’s a new sock I just started working on.  I’m taking a break from those bright self-striping yarns and playing with texture this time.  I’m using the Nine-to-Five Socks pattern and I’m psyched that I figured out how to do those faux cables…you can already see the twists!

Another pair of socks!

Back to good old ribbed socks.  Just finished these last night.  Now I can get more sock yarn!

Sunsugar tomatoes!

Don’t you just love the color of these little tomatoes?

bad blogger

I haven’t been very productive lately … I can’t believe I haven’t posted on my blog in over a week!  With the long weekend coming up, I’ve decided to start decluttering again.  First thing to go will be this vintage Vitamaster stationary bike.  Someone threw it away and I brought it home because I like the way it looks (check out that big ass seat (literally), you know it’s vintage b/c the seat won’t give you a wedgie).  It actually looks kind of cute in my living room but I could live without it.  I posted this on Craigslist and someone’s interested in it.  If that falls through, I’ll try Freecycle and if that doesn’t work, I’m going to see if I can take it apart and stick it in a recycling bin.  I’m sure the metal can be recycled and that was one of the reasons why I “rescued” it from the curb.  I also have some lumber from various projects that I’ve been “saving” … yeah, those will go on the curb with a FREE LUMBER sign this weekend.  Good thing there are other people like me who like to rescue free crap!

Clay update

Eeek, I have less than 2 weeks to make things for the show and sale.  I’ve been going to the studio on Saturdays and Sundays but I need to start going during week nights now if I want to get anything into the next couple of kilns.  I thought I was doing pretty well on soap dishes but the last time I went to see my family, my mom took 6 soap dishes (she asked me how many she could have and I said a couple – so she took SIX!).  I tried to make some more yesterday but since it takes time to dry and bisque pieces, I think I’m done making pieces.  It’s all about glazing now baby.
